Une pièce avec une histoire...

This beautiful lidded crock began its life as a genuine piece of Australian ceramic history — shaped by the hands of Ivan Eales and Noel Bailey, two artisans who worked at Bendigo Pottery, Epsom Victoria between 1968 and 1973. Their marks are still visible on the base: the oval Bendigo Pottery / Epsom factory stamp bearing the initials I.E. (Ivan Eales), a separate impressed W.B. mark for Noel Bailey, and a stacked rectangular stamp reading Australian Hand Made Stoneware — a proud declaration of origin and craft.

These are the same two potters behind the Bendigo Pottery casserole dish in our collection. Two pieces, same studio, same era — different journeys to your home.

This crock came to us with some minor damage to the base and a previously repaired lid — which is exactly what inspired its transformation. It has been lovingly revamped with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old Ochre, Saltwash texture medium, and a Honfleur wash for depth and aged character, then finished with a gloss lacquer for durability.

The result is something that looks like it was pulled straight from a French farmhouse kitchen — warm, textural, and utterly beautiful. Born in Bendigo in the late 1960s. Reimagined for your home today.
