Annie Sloan Gold Size 100ml

Gold Size is the essential first step for any gilding project. Without it, Metal Leaf simply won't adhere — and with it, you get a beautifully crisp, long-lasting result every time.

Annie Sloan Gold Size is a water-based adhesive that goes on milky white and dries clear, which is your signal that it's reached the perfect tack and is ready for the leaf. It works with all Annie Sloan Metal Leaf — Gold, Silver, and Copper — in both Loose and Transfer form.

How to Use Gold Size

Apply a thin, even coat of Gold Size to the area you want to gild using a small brush. Allow it to dry until it turns from milky white to completely clear — this usually takes around 20–30 minutes depending on conditions. Once clear and tacky, it's ready for your Metal Leaf. Apply the leaf, press gently, and brush away any excess. Seal with Annie Sloan Clear Wax or Lacquer to protect the finished surface.

Tips

• Let the Gold Size dry completely — it will go from milky white to clear. Once it feels tacky to the touch, it's ready for the leaf. This is the most important step, so don't rush it!
• A little goes a long way — apply thinly for the crispest edges
• Works beautifully over Chalk Paint® for a seamless gilded finish
