This isn't just a goblet — it's a piece of 1970s Australian pottery history you can hold in your hands. Part of the iconic Bendigo Pottery Epsom Ware line, this medieval-style wine goblet was hand-thrown on the wheel by Peter Devanny, a master potter who worked at Bendigo Pottery from 1971 to 1979. The "P.D." maker's stamp on the base tells you exactly who shaped this piece.
Look closely and you'll spot a beautiful dark iron-brown glaze drip running right over the stamp — a little signature from the kiln that collectors of hand-thrown studio ware absolutely love. It's proof of the artisan process, not a flaw.
The two-tone finish is classic Epsom Ware: a lighter sandy oatmeal salt-glaze on the stem, with the deep Bristol Brown dipped bowl above. No two pieces from this firing ever came out looking exactly the same.
